CVLC Youth Ministry
Our mission is to inspire youth to live Christ-centered lives. Our goal is to provide a safe and welcoming environment where youth can build community with one another, learn about Christ, grow in their faith and be challenged in new and engaging ways. We want to help youth become leaders inside and outside our community at CVLC.
Wednesday High School Youth Group
We meet at 8:00 pm on Wednesday during the program year. Each week different youth present a different faith/social topic for the youth to discuss. We also share highs and lows and pray for each other every week.
Sunday Morning High School Connections
We meet Sunday mornings from 9:45 to 10:45 am in Pr. Steve’s office. This is another chance for high schoolers to connect and share about their week.
Most of our high schoolers are involved with leadership at our church. We call these leadership teams SWAT teams. SWAT teamers lead GLOW, Cross Gen, High School Youth Group, help with screen team, birthday card making, etc. We also provide special training through Peer Ministry Training and leadership training with WAPO Bible camp to our youth develop leadership skills.
Confirmation is a three-year program for 6-8th graders. We confirm 9th graders every fall as a way of helping them affirm the faith in which they were baptized. Confirmation meets during the program year on Wednesday. We start with pizza at 6:00 pm, then meet in large group and small groups with adult and high school leaders. We then invite parents/families to join us for our Recharge service at 7:30 to end our confirmation time.
Dekaf meets on Sundays from 9:45 – 10:45 pm in the Youth Room. DeKaF (Devoted to Educating Kids and Fun) is the Sunday morning middle school youth group. DeKaF takes traditional Bible study and turns it on its head creating a wacky but engaging learning experience. Sprinkled within the normal meeting times are field trips and breakfast destinations.
Other opportunities to grow in faith
Supporting the core youth ministries are events, activities, and trips designed to take our youth out of their comfort zone so they can learn, serve, and grow in new ways. These ministries include Camp WAPO, Feed My Starving Children, Mission Trips, Lock-ins, Summer Stretch, and Retreats.
