“Wilderness Week”

Wilderness Week at Christus Victor! There will be a handful of things posted online, but the bulk of our activities will be outdoors together!
For all of these activities, we are going to continue practicing our physical distancing and CDC guidelines, and if you are not feeling well, have a temperature, or have been around large crowds of people, we kindly ask you to stay home for the time being.  We also recommend bringing sunscreen bug spray, and water to all of these events!

Sunday, July 12 will be Bible Study and campfire hangout time at the Klein’s house.
ELEMENTARY & FAMILIES are welcome at 6:30 PM
JUNIOR/SENIOR HIGH are welcome at 8:00 PM

Monday, July 13 will be going hiking along with the CV Green Team , meeting at Lebanon Hills Regional Park Visitor Center near Schulze Beach) at 6:30 PM. Multiple hiking routes and “levels” of difficulty and length will
be available, so all ages are welcome! Kate Nyquist will be leading and will have some educational talking points and creation care information for us all. Bring good hiking shoes, and don’t forget water and bug spray!

Drive, at the end (T-road), take left to the park (located on the right)

Wednesday, July 15 we will meet again at Lebanon Hills Regional Park-Visitor Center for an evening of fires and cooking! At 5:30 PM we will learn a little about campfire safety, ways to make fires and gather wood, then make a cooking fire! Everyone needs to bring their own dinner – hamburger meat, carrots, potatoes, butter, salt and pepper work really great! We will cook them in aluminum foil together around the large fire pit! Again, remember physical distancing together and bring food, water, and bug spray.

Thursday, July 16 we are all going to camp together (separately)! We are going to log in on Zoom at 8 PM together, and all go through making tents in our own backyards! We’ll have an evening devotional as the sun starts to go down, but we want everyone who can to “camp” outside this night! Take pictures, and we will share them on social media together. If you don’t have enough ground space outside at home, make it fun and push all your furniture aside in the living room and sleep on the floor!

Saturday, July 18 we will have a canoeing day at Lebanon Hills Regional Park-Visitor Center! We are going to meet together at 9 AM, canoe for a while, and have a bring-your-own picnic lunch. (If you really want a classic WCB lunch, make it cheese, summer sausage, trail mix, tortillas, peanut butter, and jelly). We will go through paddling techniques, water safety, tipping the canoes, and proper lifting and portaging techniques.
If you don’t have a canoe/kayak, you can easily rent them at Lebanon Park up to 7 days in advance, so do it as early as Sunday to make sure you can rent!  Link to Lebanon Park for renting canoes/kayaks.  https://www.co.dakota.mn.us/parks/Pages/summer-equipment-rental.aspx

IT’S GOING TO BE A FUN WEEK!
