God Loves a Cheerful Giver – 2 Corinthians 9:7
In his second letter to the church at Corinth, Paul reminds us all, “Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Cor. 9:7). How does a person become a cheerful giver? One powerful way is: GRATITUDE!
On Reformation and Affirmation of Baptism Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019, we heard another inspiring story of gratitude from church member, Kristi Manning (you can find a recording of her message on our church Facebook page). She challenged us to think about all of God’s blessings in our lives, and especially through the ministries and people here at Christus Victor.
As we bless the Stewardship Routes and Route leaders, this coming Sunday, Nov. 3, I invite you all to think about God’s blessings you have been given, and how God is calling you to be a cheerful giver.
Questions for reflection and conversation:
Think of a time when you have been a cheerful, and even eager giver?
What has made the difference in your own life between being a reluctant giver and a cheerful giver?
List out all of the ministries and people that have blessed your life and faith here at CV. Pray over that list and ask God for a cheerful heart as you consider your pledge for 2020.
