“Hallelujah! Yes, praise the Lord! Sing him a new song. Sing his praises, all his people.” (Psalms 149:1)
Christus Victor has 4 choirs operating on a regular basis. Senior Choir (adult choir, great variety of music), Upward Call (high school and adult contemporary worship choir), Rock Band (middle school – young at heart adult choir), and JIFY (2nd – 5th grade group).
Senior Choir: meets Wednesdays from 8:00 – 9:00 P.M. in the sanctuary. We sing twice a month for church, one service or the other or both!
Upward Call: meets between services on Sundays at 10:00 A.M. in the sanctuary. Leads contemporary worship on the 4th Sunday of the month.
Rock Band: meets most every Sunday evening from 6:30 – 7:30 P.M. in the sanctuary. Leads contemporary worship the 2nd Sunday of the month.
JIFY: meets on Wed. evenings beginning at 6:00 P.M. They sing special music at church about once a month. Talk to Nancy Erler for more information about that group because they get to eat pizza too!
This is a very BASIC description of our choirs at church. We’d love more members in all choirs. If you can carry a tune we can teach you the rest! Many friendships are built in choir, not to mention great music and lots of laughter! Come check us out!
We have a few special events. The Senior Choir does a big singing thing (not a cantata but lots of special music) on Christmas Eve at the late service at church. Rock Band and Upward Call and the Church Band have a “dessert theater.” All the choirs participate in a “Choir Sunday” the first Sunday in May at both services.
Church Band: The church band plays a couple times a year, once around the Christmas holiday for both church services and then again for the dessert theater. It’s open to kids and adults who play a band instrument and have played for at least a year. Dust off those old horns! Who knows what other events might come up this year????? Yeah, music!
