“Working Together with God to Grow God’s Church”
“I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.” – 1 Cor. 3: 6
All of the members of Christus Victor Lutheran are invited to attend one of three meetings to learn about the Church Health Process (a.k.a. Natural Church Development). The Church Health Process will help our church to identify and clarify where we need to focus on improving the health and quality of our ministries, which will in turn release the divine growth forces by which God Himself grows the Church. The Church Health Process (NCD) is not a quick-fix, “silver bullet” program that is long, drawn-out, expensive, and doesn’t really do anything. The Church Health Process is more like taking measurements, stepping on a scale to see where we as a church are doing well, where we need to improve, and then identifying 2-3 areas we want to focus on in the coming year, then repeat the process.
These three meetings will all cover the same materials and topics: visioning for the future of CV, defining the Church Health Process and Principles, identifying roles and responsibilities of the Church Health Team, and sharing the benefits to our church.
Please plan on attending ONE of the following sessions in the Fellowship Hall:
(*Nursery will be provided at each meeting!)
- Thursday, November 10 – 7:00pm-8:30pm
- Monday, November 14 – 7:00pm-8:30pm
- Monday, November 28 – 7:00pm-8:30pm
If you have any questions about these meetings, please contact anyone of the Church Health Task Force members: Barb Damlo, Malisa Kreutzmann, Ed Odden, or Pastor Kent Claussen Gubrud.

Yes it’s true! We will be going back to Constanza, Dominican Republic on July 28th-Aug 5th, 2012. Will we be painting, mixing concrete, organizing the plaza or playing with the kids? Actually, we will probably be doing all of these things and more. There will be a short information meeting at Christus Victor on Sunday night Nov 6th at 6:00. Please join us if you have any curiosity about it. If you are interested, but aren’t able to make the meeting, please talk to Jody McDermott-Baty for information or any of the past team members for their experiences. Is God calling you to make a difference?

Fall is here and Thanksgiving is not far behind. The Social Ministries Committee will once again be organizing our annual Thanksgiving basket ministry.
We began raising funds with our successful concession stand at the garage sale. Once again we have a partnership with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans with a Care Abounds in Communities grant. This year we will be picking apples at the Wardell’s orchard for our baskets. The Wardell family has graciously donated the apples. Our goal is 250 baskets for families in our Dakota County area.
How can you help? You can sponsor a families’ dinner through our Adopt-A-Family campaign. Each basket feeds a family of six and costs about $25. A $25 donation provides for one family, $50 provides for two! Your donation of any amount will help provide not only a wonderful holiday meal, but also send a heartfelt message to the recipients that they are loved and valued by God and their community. Another way you can help is to volunteer on the morning of Saturday, November 19th. We will meet at church at 9:00 to fold boxes, unload the truck, bag apples, and fill the boxes. If you have never participated in this event please join us! This is a great family activity and service project for our Confirmation groups. It is an amazing sight!
The sign-up sheet, Adopt-A-Family donation envelopes and additional information will be at the information desk near the end of October. If you have any questions please feel free to contact a member of the Social Ministries Committee. Many thanks in advance for helping us make this event not only a success for Christus Victor but more importantly for helping us make a positive impact on our sisters and brothers in our community.

BWANA JESU ASIFIWE Praise the Lord Jesus! Have you ever thought about sponsoring a student in Tanzania? If you have, now is the time to act! The students are gearing up for another school year and our sister parish in Mlowa is currently reviewing how many students will receive scholarships for the next school year, which begins in January. Now is the time to let our sister parish know how much we value education and give a child an opportunity to make a difference in this world. No gift is too small! A full scholarship is $360.00 for the year; half scholarship is $180.00 and some of our sponsors use this as a gift idea for Christmas, birthdays or just to reflect the love God has put on their heart. Maybe get a few families together and sponsor a student together. Envelopes for donations are in the Missions Committee mail slot, or contact Paula Nierengarten from the Missions Committee for more information (651) 683-9012. Asante Sana Thank You!
