Christus Victor Lutheran Church

…is connecting again.  We meet on November 13^th (Tuesday) at Apple Valley IHOP for breakfast at 8:15 AM.  We will eat, drink, and be merry until 9:30 AM when we leave for the IMAX Theatre to view ADVENTURES IN WILD CALIFORNIA.  Tickets are $6.  Pastor Laura has accepted our invitation to join us at IHOP for breakfast.  A room has been set aside at IHOP so bring your friends or invite one of CV’s “shy” 60 + members to join us.  The sign up sheet is at the “Information desk”.

Many generous people have called to ask about volunteering to help with newsletter assembly.  Thanks!  If you are interested in helping, please come to a meeting on Tuesday, November 13^th at 6:30 PM in Room 113 (“Praise Him Playhouse”).  We will be done by 7:00 PM so those of you who have meetings for All Committee Night will be able to attend those too.  If you can’t make the meeting, or have other questions, please call Paula Nierengarten at 651-683-9012.  Come and check it out!

…On Saturday, November 17^th we need volunteers from 9:00 AM – NOON for our Thanksgiving Basket Outreach Project.  Christus Victor is doing this project on our own this year so many helping hands are needed.  Volunteers will unload the truck, fold boxes, fill the boxes with food, & help with clean-up.  The sign-up sheet for volunteers is at the “Information Desk”.  Many thanks from Social Ministries!!!

…Christus Victor is partnering with Thrivent Financial to provide Thanksgiving baskets to families in need this fall.  Our goal is to serve 150 families this year at an approximate cost of $25 per basket.  In order to achieve this goal we are asking that you prayerfully consider “adopting” one or more families with a monetary donation.  Envelopes are located at the “Information Desk” & can be returned with your donation in the offering basket during church services or to the church office.  Many thanks for helping CV reach out & touch the lives of families in our community!

…Christmas, yes Christmas is right around the corner.  The children of CV will be celebrating with our annual Christmas program & parties on December 23^rd at the 11:00 AM service.  Bring in the Christmas week by seeing our fabulous children sing & act in this yearly tradition at CV!

The second annual Christian Community Fair will be held November 9th and 10th, 2007 at the River Centre in St. Paul.  This weekend is all about family, fun, and entertainment.  The two-day gathering has everything from a large petting zoo, a variety of inflatables, 170 exhibit booths, and live music.  New this year we have a 25 foot climbing wall from the Minnesota National Guard and there will be flu shots available for a small fee from Cub Pharmacy. This is THE one time per year when you can find out about all the local ministries in town, talk with colleges, health professionals, and a variety of family friendly businesses.  FREE ADMISSION – and bring a canned good for the Union Gospel Mission Thanksgiving food drive.  Discount parking passes available on the website and at all Northwestern Bookstores.  For volunteer opportunities and more information go to www.christianfair.com or call 763 670 5051. 

…Dear friends in Christ, Thank you so much to all those who made my first Sunday & installation day so special!  I was moved by the services, the incredible music, the wonderful reception, even a special welcome basket for Abby, my golden retriever.  My family & friends were so impressed with the welcome we all received.  Thanks to all those who introduced themselves to us.  I will continue to ask your names for many months to come!  Please be patient with me!  I was so touched by the day & I can’t thank you enough.  You helped me start my ministry off with a bang.  I look forward to many years together.  God bless you all!  Peace & love, Pastor Laura.
