OUR TREASURE IS YOUR TREASURE…2006 CV Garage Sale!  Friday, August 11^th 4:00 – 8:00 PM. & Saturday, August 12^th 9:00AM – 2:00PM.  Preparations are underway & members are asked to search for treasures to sell, & to sign up to volunteer at this great event!  Things to do:  Mark the dates, find the treasures, volunteer!
AUGUST ALL COMMITTEE NIGHT…Due to the annual garage sale, All Committee Night has been moved from Tuesday, August 8^th to Tuesday, August 15^th.
BACKGROUND SCREENING ANNOUNCEMENT…In an effort to provide the safest environment at CV, we have started a background screening process to help protect our children & comply with legal requirements.  This process includes conducting criminal background checks for volunteers involved with children, church finances & certain other categories.  Members volunteering in these areas may be asked to participate in this process & we want to thank you in advance for your cooperation.  All searches will be performed by a professional search firm & all information will be kept strictly confidential.
PT NURSERY CARE PROVIDER POSITION OPEN…We are looking for a nursery care provider to share nursery coverage with Trish Fike as Laura Colin returns to college mid-August.  If you are interested in this part-time position, please contact Connie Walter at (952) 233-1771 or e-mail her at connie.walter@thrivent.com.  Referrals are welcomed & appreciated!

FOOD SHELF ITEM OF THE MONTH FOR AUGUST IS…Toilet paper and paper towels.
TWINS GAME…Friday, August 11^th.  Grades 6 – 12 may sign up.  The game starts at 7:10PM but we’ll be meeting at church at 5:40PM.  The cost is $15.00 & a portion of that cost will go towards Lutheran Social Service to help the homeless.  There are 12 spots available.
CV MEN’S SAILING TRIP 2006…A fellowship adventure for the men of CV & their friends.  Experience is not required.  We will sail Thursday, September 14^th or Friday, September 15^th through Sunday September 17^th, to be decided by those going.  There is information on the Men’s Bulletin Board & if you are interested in going, please sign up at the “Information Desk”.
MEN’S BIBLE STUDY…Join us on the first & third Tuesday mornings of each month at 7:00AM in the Art Room for Bible Study, discussion, & prayer.  Bring your Bibles, coffee provided.
CONTRIBUTIONS WANTED…Social Ministries is looking for individuals to donate items for the Garage Sale Concession Stand.  Sign up in the “Garage Sale Concessions Stand Donations Book” at the “Information Desk”.
CONTAGIOUS JOY can be found at the Women of Faith conference 2006. WAPO QUILT AUCTION AND PIG ROAST…Saturday, August 19^th.  The quilt auction will be at 11:30 A.M., with a quilt preview Friday, August 18^th from 12:00 – 8:00 P.M.  Silent bids are welcome!  The pig roast will be from 10:30 A.M. – 1:00 P.M.  Menu includes: pork sandwiches, baked beans, potatoes, coleslaw, cake and beverages.  Prices are as follows:  Adult – $7.00, Children (3-11) – $4.00. 
The Mel Freeman Memorial SWAT Team Recognition Award
Mel Freeman loved the children and youth of Christus Victor, serving for many years as Sunday School Superintendent.  Mel was a strong supporter of the youth ministries of CV, and understood that the youth are not only the future of the church; they are important servant-leaders of the church today.
 

This is the first annual recognition award to be given to all graduating seniors who have served on the S.W.A.T. Team.

We are re-scheduling the August all-committee night to August 15th at 7:00pm. Those who show up at the old time, on August 8th, will be put to work pricing items for the Garage Sale. Come to think of it, come on out, help us out, and enjoy the fellowship!
