SIXTH ANNUAL MIDWIFE KIT PROJECT…we will be collecting items to make midwife kits.  We are in need of:  regular bath size towels, receiving blankets, regular size bars of Ivory soap, & gently used sheets or 36″ squares of muslin.  Please drop your donations off in the collections box in the narthex.  Be sure to sign up in the Social Ministries book to come help us assemble these kits on Saturday, May 13th at 9:00AM.  Let’s celebrate Mother’s Day by “Celebrating Life”.  Any questions contact Betty Pell at (952) 431-4293.
 

 

ONLY TWO WEEKS LEFT–KASH FOR KATRINA…Social Ministries is raising “KASH” for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.  Jaclyn Brandes will be at the “Information Desk” in the narthex collecting any & all donations for our companion church, Christus Victor of Ocean Springs, MS.  It costs approximately $20.00 to purchase the items in these kits.  Please prayerfully consider a “KASH” donation.

CHRISTUS VICTOR T-SHIRTS & POLOS – PICK YOUR ORDER UP TODAY!…TODAY, between services, you can pay for & pick up your T-shirt or polo golf shirt if you have not done so already.  The 7th grade boys confirmation class thanks you for your participation & support.  You purchased 114 units, which exceeded our expectations.  YOU LOOK GREAT!
 

 

WAPO FUNDRAISING…Are you a fan of saving money?  How about a consumer of pizza?  Frequent connoisseur of tasty steak?  A person who enjoys ice cream on a hot sunny day?  Then you need to obtain the fundraising card that the WAPO Campers are selling TODAY.  By giving $10 you’ll be saving $235, & helping youth go to camp!!
LILY BLOOM VIALS…If you took lily blooms with you on Easter Sunday, please return the vials to the church office, as they are reused each year to make the cross.
A GREAT BIG THANK… to all who contributed to the Faith Trek Lenten Service collection for “Feed My Starving Children”.  We collected $854, in 61 M&M tubes, which translates to 3,416 quarters or 44 lbs. of change.

YOU! BEHIND THE SCREEN…We are looking for more people to help run the screen for Worship services.  If you can turn a computer on & pay attention during worship, you can do it!  Please come to one of two training sessions:  Thursday, May 11th or Tuesday, May 16th at 7:00PM.  If you have any questions, please call Shane Colin (952) 808-0838.  We are especially looking for help from our youth!
“LIFE SENIORS”…persons 60 years or older are invited to join Pastor George in the Youth Room on May 21st at 10:00AM.  Let’s chat about whether there is an interest & need to form a 60’s plus group at CV.
STARTING MAY 28TH…we will be going to our summer service time.  On Memorial Day weekend & during the month of June, there will be one service starting at 10:00AM.
WAPO…Memorial Day Pancake Extravaganza—Monday, May 29th, 8:00AM to 12:00PM.  The menu includes:  Four kinds of pancakes including:  buttermilk, Finnish, oven, blueberry, potato, or applesauce, real maple syrup, many toppings, sausage, juice, milk, coffee & tea.  Cost:  $6.00 – Adult ~ $4.00 – Child (4-11).  AND CRAFT SALE, with local craftspeople will be selling their handiwork.  Proceeds help finish Ox Lake’s new chapel/storm shelter.
SPECIAL OLYMPICS…mark your calendars for June 24th.  We will be meeting at the church at 7:15AM & car pooling to the event at the U of MN & get home about 2:00 – 2:30PM.  There are sign-up sheets at the “Information Desk” & the sign-up deadline is Sunday, June 4th.  We are collecting Coke bottle caps off of 20 oz Coke bottles for the Special Olympics.  They are using the codes found in the cap to win prizes to be awarded to the competing athletes at the Special Olympics.  We have a drop site at the in the narthex for people to drop off their Coke bottle caps.  If you have any questions, please call Beth Dallmann at (952) 885-0727.
ALTAR FLOWERS…the following Sundays remain open for which you can order altar flowers:  May 21; July 2, 9, 16, 23, 30; August 6, 13, 20; September 3; October 15, 22; November 5, 26.  The cost of an altar bouquet is $21.25.  If you are interested in ordering flowers for one of these Sundays, please call Marilyn Kujawa at (952) 432-4956.

FIRST ANNUAL WOMEN’S ONLY BWCA TRIP…has been scheduled
Due to interest, a second trip has been added.  Same dates, same entry point, same cost.  Now, 18 women can enjoy a relaxing, peaceful weekend in the BWCA.
Date:  August 19 – 22, 2006
(leaving Apple Valley on Friday evening, August 18th)
Cost:  $170 – includes EVERYTHING except several meals out & any souvenirs

THANK YOU…Social Ministries would like to thank everyone who participated in the March Food Drive Contest.  The final numbers are in- Women 338; Men 292.  Congrats to the Women!  The local food shelf in Rosemount is very thankful for our donations as there is an increased demand this year.  Please continue to support the food shelf, & watch for “Items of the Month” posted in the bulletin & newsletter.  Thanks again.
