The choirs will perform their annual Choir Concert at both services on Sunday, May 7th. 

All choirs will be taking part in this concert: JIFY (2nd-5th graders, BOPS (6th-8th graders), Upward Call (Contemporary worship choir), Senior Choir (Adult choir), and Spirit Bound (outreach choir).

SIXTH ANNUAL MIDWIFE KIT PROJECT…we will be collecting items to make midwifes kits beginning this Sunday, April 23^rd.  Due to many generous donations we only need: regular bath size towels, receiving blankets, regular size bars of Ivory soap, & gently used sheets or 36″ squares of muslin.  Items can be dropped off in the collections box in the narthex. Be sure to sign up at the information desk to come help us assemble these kits on Saturday, May 13^th at 9:00AM.  Let’s celebrate Mother’s Day by “Celebrating Life”.  Any questions contact Betty Pell at (952) 431-4293.

3^RD ANNUAL “TASTE OF TANZANIA DINNER”…On Sunday April 30^th at 5:30PM at Shepherd of the Hills Church in Shoreview Evening includes:  Tanzania Menu, Special Program, Tanzanian Marketplace.  All free-will offerings toward the dinner & sales from the “marketplace,” will go towards different projects to support our partnership with the Kidamali Parish.  Please come & join in the fun!  To reserve a spot, please call Pastor Vera at (651) 483-5419 Ext. 102 or e-mail PastorVera@shepherdshoreview.org.  The deadline for sign-up to attend is TODAY.

KASH FOR KATRINA…Social Ministries is raising “KASH” for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.  Michele Iaria will be at the “Information Desk” in the narthex collecting any & all donations for our companion church, Christus Victor of Ocean Springs, MS.  See the sample kits in the narthex:  1 personal hygiene kit & 1 of cleaning product kit.  It costs approximately $20.00 to purchase the items in these kits, & we are asking the members of CV to prayerfully consider a “KASH” donation towards these items & will be sending the money down with the next mission group.  Thank you in advance.

ATTENTION:  FAITH TREK AND BOPS STUDENTS…if you have not yet returned your M&M tubes of quarters for “Feed My Starving Children”, please turn them in to the office by Sunday, April 30^th.  Any other members of the congregation wishing to participate in this fund drive are also invited to submit the donations to the office by that date.  Be sure to indicate that the donation is for “Feed My Starving Children”.  Thanks to all who have contributed already.  Watch for an upcoming announcement of the total collected.

SPAGHETTI DINNER & SILENT AUCTION…Saturday, April 29^th, 4:00 to 8:00PM at Grace Lutheran Church (GLC) of Apple Valley.  “Hearts Helping Heidi”. Is a project to provide Heidi Ness an addition to their home to include a handicap accessible bathroom & bedroom on the main floor, as well as necessary modifications for their whole house.  Heid Ness age 40, has ALS, also known as Lou Gherig’s disease.  Heidi, her husband Paul & three children Adam, Hannah & Caitlin are Rosemount residents.  They are active members at GLC.
WAPO FUNDRAISING…Are you a fan of saving money? How bout a consumer of pizza?  Frequent connoisseur of tasty steak?  A person who enjoys ice cream on a hot sunny day?  Then you need to obtain the Fundraising Card that the WAPO Campers are selling on April 30th & May 7th.  By giving $10 you’ll be saving $235, & helping youth go to camp!!
FIRST ANNUAL WOMEN’S ONLY BWCA TRIP…has been scheduled
Due to interest, a second trip has been added.  Same dates, same entry point, same cost.  Now, 18 women can enjoy a relaxing, peaceful weekend in the BWCA.
Date:  August 19 - 22, 2006
(leaving Apple Valley on Friday evening, August 18th)
Cost:  $170 - includes EVERYTHING except several meals out & any souvenirs

MISSION TRIP…to Montana to help out the US Forest Service has been cancelled due to a lack of interest.  We’ll begin planning for next years’ trip after the summer.

THANK YOU…Social Ministries would like to thank everyone who participated in the March Food Drive Contest.  The final numbers are in- Women 338; Men 292.  Congrats to the Women!  The local food shelf in Rosemount is very thankful for our donations as there is an increased demand this year.  Please continue to support the food shelf, & watch for “Items of the Month” posted in the bulletin & newsletter.  Thanks again.
ALTAR FLOWERS…the following Sundays remain open for which you can order altar flowers:  May 7, 21; June 11; July 2, 9, 16, 23, 30; August 6, 13, 20; September 3, 17; October 1, 15, 22, 29; November 5, 26.  The cost of an altar bouquet is $21.25.  If you are interested in order flowers for one of these Sundays, please call Marilyn Kujawa at (952) 432-4956.
